2024 GIFT CARD PROGRAM – The Program: Food Island Partnership has created a gift card program, Canada’s Food Island Gift Card , to support the Island’s tourism and food & beverage industry. The program’s goals are to increase room nights sold, lengthen stay, and stimulate spending at locally-owned tourism and food and beverage establishments.
The Opportunity: To continue supporting PEI accommodation providers and encourage participation, Food Island Partnership will offer gift cards to accommodation partners at a 40% discount for qualifying package initiatives. The discounted cards will be available for packages SOLD until December 31, 2021. (while quantities last).

Restaurants & Take Outs; Farmers, fishers, and seafood/farmers’ markets; Authentic PEI Products Culinary adventure and attractions; Family attractions; Golf Courses; Local Retailers* Qualified retailers must cater to the visitor market and be a locally owned and operated business with headquarters situated in Prince Edward Island. Examples of qualified retailers include selling soft goods, food and local artisan products (i.e. clothing & shoe stores, craft & souvenir shops). ; With the goals in mind, packagers will be required to adhere to the number of gift cards included in packages as follows:

To ensure program integrity, gift cards must be sold as a package. All packages MUST adhere to the criteria outlined above. Accommodation partners may only offer the # of cards outlined in the criteria per number of room nights sold. This is inclusive of Stay & Savour Packages and custom packages created by operators.
*Please note any packages created over 5 nights are eligible for an additional $50 gift card per night. I.E 7 Nights $300 Canada Food Island Gift Cards, 10 Nights $450 Canada Food Island Gift Cards*
All Packages will be monitored to ensure program integrity. Failure to comply with criteria will result in the operator being terminated from the program.
Program Participation:
Accommodation partners will be required to opt into the Stay & Savour promotion.
The Longer You Stay, The More You Savour: The promotion will offer gift card incentives for 2, 3, 4 and 5-room nights at participating accommodation partners.
The promotion will offer gift card incentives for 4, 8, 12 and site night at participating campgrounds.
Accommodation Operators may now register as a merchant to accept the gift cards if they wish. *Note Food Island Partnership will record all gift card numbers assigned to operators. Accommodations operators will be prohibited from accepting their own package gift cards at their property. I.e. guests who Stay for 2 Nights (custom package or Stay & Savour) receiving a $50 Canada’s Food Island Gift Card cannot use the gift card towards their stay.

Canada’s Food Island Gift Card Partnership Agreement – Accommodation Operators
Now therefore, in consideration of the mutual agreements contained herein, the parties agree as follows:
The parties agree that the items listed in Schedule “A” shall be provided to the Accommodation Partner by Food Island Partnership.
The parties agree that the details listed in Schedule “B” shall be executed and followed by the Accommodation Partner.

Right to use Canada’s Food Island logo in marketing
Exclusive discount of 40% off Canada’s Food Island Gift Cards during the promotional period (April – December 2021). Please note discounted gift card(s) will only be extended for those operators who are open for business for the 2021 season.

Accommodation Partners may order a maximum retail value of $3,000 in gift cards at one time (cost to operator $1,800). Please note gift cards can only be ordered in $50 denominations.
As a part of the incentive requirements, operators will be required to provide tracking for:
Total number of packages sold (Origin Province of Guest Booked)
Total room nights sold
Total number of gift cards included in packages
Recognition & Communications
The accommodation partner will be featured in Canada’s Food Island online Gift Card Directory https://peigiftcard.ca/accommodation-directory , which will be linked from Canada’s Food Island website.
Provision of a Virtual Badge and social media assets for accommodation partners to include on their website and promote participation in the program.

The following are the conditions and commitments that the Accommodation Partners must agree to follow or execute to participate in the Gift Card Program.
The Accommodation Partner will be required to participate in a Stay & Savour initiative.

Stay 3 nights and receive a FREE $100 Canada’s Food Island Gift Card.

Pending the re-opening of border restrictions, packages will be marketed in the Maritimes by Canada’s Food Island.
The Accommodation Partner(s) are also encouraged to create custom packages for their establishment(s) during the promotional period. These packages will be promoted on the operator website, and operators are encouraged to contact Book PEI, who will promote Stay & Savour Packages and up to 8 Free Package listings.
NOTE: In order to maintain the program’s integrity, Custom packages created using Canada's Food Island Gift Card must follow the same criteria as Stay & Savour to respect the integrity of the program. 2-night Packages receive a FREE $50 Canada’s Food Island Gift Card
3-night Packages receive a FREE $100 Canada’s Food Island Gift Card
4-night Packages receive a FREE $150 Canada’s Food Island Gift Card
5-night Packages receive a FREE $200 Canada’s Food Island Gift Card
Accommodation Partners may order a maximum retail value of $3,000 of cards at one time. To place an order for gift cards, the operator must complete an online form and pay in full by credit card.
In order to re-order gift cards, operators must provide tracking for packages sold, room nights sold, and gift cards used in packaging.
Accommodation Partners may return any unused gift cards for a full refund of the value paid by December 31, 2021. Any cards not returned by December 31, 2021, will be the Accommodation Partner’s property and non-refundable. Please note the gift cards do not expire.
At the conclusion of the promotional period and/or end of operators 2021 season, the Accommodation Partner agrees to provide Food Island Partnership with tracking for packages sold using Canada’s Food Island Gift Cards, including;
Total number of packages sold (Origin Province of Guest Booked)
Total room nights sold
Total number of gift cards included in packages
Failure to provide accurate tracking may result in being removed from the program moving forward.
Accommodation Partners agree to complete the Stay & Savour package online directory form, which will be uploaded to Canada’s Food Island Gift Card website (www.canadasfoodisland.ca )
Accommodation Partners also agree to feature packages on their website and take advantage of the FREE online packaging option with Tourism PEI. To list packages with BOOK PEI operators can contact the toll-free number 1-866-213-7521 or email me at sdmaclean@gov.pe.ca
Failure to comply with criteria and commitments will result in the Accommodation Partner being removed from the online directory, and gift cards will no longer be available at a discount to the property.
